Ryan Copping

I am studying the cultural reception of the First World War in cinema during the interwar period (1919-1939) in the United States and Great Britain. I am particularly interested in portrayals of trauma, both physical and psychological. Films discussed are The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, The Big Parade, Wings, All Quiet on the Western Front, Journey's End, and Men Must Fight, among others.

I have an BA in Film and Photography and an MS in Communication from Grand Valley State University. As I originally hail from Grand Rapids, Michigan, I am one of the few visitors to the British Isles who are impressed by the relaxing and pleasant weather.
