Samantha Newbery

Lecturer in Contemporary Intelligence Studies, University of Salford

Dr Newbery has research and teaching expertise in intelligence, security and counter-insurgency. Her book, Interrogation, Intelligence and Security: Controversial British Techniques, was published by Manchester University Press in May 2015. Why Spy? The Art of Intelligence, co-authored with Brian T.W. Stewart CMG, a former Deputy Chief of MI6, was published by Hurst in June 2015. Her current research concerns the use of informers in Northern Ireland in the 1970s and 1980s.
