Samuel Workman is professor and director of the Institute for Policy Research and Public Affairs in the John D. “Jay” Rockefeller IV School of Policy and Politics at West Virginia University. His research addresses American politics and public policy at the national, state, and local level, where he is an expert on legislative and bureaucratic policymaking. He writes about rural politics and policy, and especially in West Virginia and the broader Appalachian region.
