Sarah Hynek is currently a PhD candidate in Political Studies at the University of Aberdeen. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science from McMaster University in Canada, a Master of Studies in Theology from the University of Oxford, and a Master of Research in Political Research from the University of Aberdeen. She is part of a research initiative at her university that studies the relationship between religion and politics in the contemporary world, which provided her with a scholarship to pursue her doctoral studies. Her current research interests concern political Islam in Egypt, especially the Muslim Brotherhood, and contemporary Egyptian political movements.
