Dr Scott Firsing is an international relations/security expert focusing on foreign power involvement in Africa. He currently teaches for the Conflict Management and Resolution graduate program at the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. Dr Firsing has also taught at The Citadel: The Military College of South Carolina and Coastal Carolina University, lecturing on a variety topics including Emerging International Security Threats, Social Science Research, US National Security and World Politics. He spent 2005-2015 living in South Africa and traveling the globe.

Dr Firsing is a Program for African Leadership (Pfal) Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He worked for Monash University in South Africa from 2011-2016, serving as a Senior Lecturer and Head of the International Studies Department and then as Research Fellow. Dr Firsing completed fellowships at the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) and the Institute for Global Dialogue (IGD). He co-founded the Aerospace Leadership Academy (AERLA) in 2013, an American institution based outside of Johannesburg, South Africa.
