Senior Instructor in Global and International Studies, Carleton University

Sean Burges currently a Senior Instructor in Global and International Studies at Carleton University. He is an expert in Brazilian foreign policy, inter-American affairs, South-South relations, and politics in Latin America. He has written over forty peer-reviewed articles and chapters in these fields as well as two single-author monographs on Brazilian foreign policy, including the 2018 Latin American Studies Association Luciano Tomassini Award winning book "Brazil in the World: The International Relations of a South American Giant." In the past he has been an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Research Award Fellow, a SSHRC Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellow, the Cadieux-Leger Fellow in Canada's foreign ministry, and a civil servant with the Government. He has held full-time academic appointments in the UK and a tenured position in Australia. His previous OpEds have appeared in national and international media.
