Assistant Professor of Pediatric Infectious Disease, West Virginia University

I am a pediatric infectious diseases physician at West Virginia University with interest in quality improvement and patient care safety. I am the physician lead for the antimicrobial stewardship program and infection control at WVU Medicine Children's. I completed my Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. As a faculty at West Virginia University, I get an opportunity to work and teach medical students, residents and nurses.
I am currently involved in the pilot of a statewide initiative to generate awareness about overprescribing of antibiotics and develop education tools and resources to help providers to decrease antibiotic prescription use in children for illnesses that do not require antibiotics. With this project I aim to improve patient safety as well as decrease the economic burden resulting from prescription costs as well as medical visits due to adverse events secondary to antibiotics.
