Siegfried Wagner

Research Fellow, Ophthalmology, UCL

I am a Medical Research Council Clinical Research Training Fellow at University College London and honorary fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital. I qualified in medicine from the University of Oxford in 2012 and then moved to London for ophthalmology training. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmology, the European Board of Ophthalmology and Member of the Royal College of Physicians. As of 2020, I have been completing a PhD combining ophthalmology, epidemiology and data science.

My research focuses on improving our understanding of how the eye changes in systemic diseases, such as dementia and cardiovascular disease. Using retinal imaging with both traditional statistics and modern artificial intelligence techniques, we are evaluating the potential of leveraging retinal structure as a proxy for our general physiology.
