I have practiced as a visual artist for 18 years with a focus on cultural translation and the processes involved in cultural transfer and transformation. I am a recipient of numerous awards and grants from various organizations such as the Canada Council for the Arts, the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Ontario Arts Council, etc. My work has been exhibited across Canada from Vancouver to Halifax and collected by various public and private institutions, including the Canada Council’s Art Bank.

I have also taught as a Lecturer in Studies in Islam program at University of Waterloo for 8 years, where I designed and taught interdisciplinary courses such as Islamic Visual Culture and Calligraphy to Conceptual Art. I started my position at Western University at the Visual Arts Department in 2020 specializing in sculpture and installation with a focus on postcolonial/decolonial art/theory, visual arts in diaspora, cross cultural exchange, cultural translation, and Islamic art & visual culture.
