Sophie Wilkinson

Leading the Fire and Ecosystems Research Lab out of the School of Resource and Environmental Management, Simon Fraser University, my research focuses on fire behaviour and fire effects in natural and managed ecosystems. Current projects include assessing thresholds to high severity fires in carbon-rich peatlands, and the controls on fire severity in mountain pine beetle attacked forest stands. My research has implications for climate change, conservation and wildfire management policy, as well as community-level wildfire management and fuel modification treatments.
