Professor, Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow

I am a Professor at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. My research focuses on understanding the strategic and ecosystem enablers of innovations/start-ups tackling UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

I was co-chair of the G20 Startup20 taskforce on sustainability, that developed a policy communique for G20 startup ecosystems in 2023.

I am co-creator of an open social movement - SDGZero - that envisions creating bottom-up approaches to solving SDG challenges by enabling local communities through entrepreneurial approaches.

I am co-lead and co-author of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) reports which tracks entrepreneurial trends globally on an annual basis.

My popular Master's course explores emerging technologies and associated futuristic business models.

I am a board member and director of Community Enterprise in Scotland (CEIS), which is UK largest and most experienced social enterprise support agency.

I also regularly write blogs for the World Economic Forum and was shortlisted for the Financial Times - McKinsey Bracken Bowen Prize in 2018. I am currently a co-editor of International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research and on the editorial review board of British Journal of Management.

My research on ecosystems and social entrepreneurship has been published in leading management journals including Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of World Business, Journal of Product Innovation Management and British Journal of Management.
