Steffanie Scott

Professor of Geography & Environmental Management, University of Waterloo

Steffanie Scott grew up as a settler on Coast Salish territories (Victoria, British Columbia) and now lives on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron (Neutral), Anishnaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. She is a Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Waterloo. Steffanie is leading a research project on "Learning from the Land: Developing Capacity for Place-Based Learning at the University of Waterloo" and co-led the Land Skills for Wellness and Sustainability project. Steffanie is co-author of the 2018 book, Organic Food and Farming in China: Top-down and Bottom Up Ecological Initiatives. Her research digs into land-based sustainability practices, nature connection, and food systems. She is past president of the Canadian Association for Food Studies and was the inaugural co-chair of the Food System Roundtable of Waterloo Region.
