Steve’s research involves understanding mice in zero and no-till cropping systems and applying this knowledge to reduce the negative impacts of mice in the grain production industry. The work involves three parts: monitoring mouse populations to predict future mouse population outbreaks, investigating the efficacy of ZnP to enhance the effectiveness of control strategies, and understanding the ecology of mice in zero and no-till cropping systems to inform the development of more effective control strategies.

Prior to commencing work on mice Steve worked on several projects studying interactions between introduced predators and native prey species. He also worked on a project testing the viability of a fertility control agent for kangaroos.
