Steven Bond-Smith

Research Fellow, Bankwest-Curtin Economics Centre, Curtin University

Dr Steven Bond-Smith is a Research Fellow at the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre, Curtin University. Steven's research focuses on the economics of innovation and aims to understand the incentives for investing in innovation as the driver of economic growth. He studies extensions to traditional growth theory to better model and understand the nature of innovation and on this basis develop policy recommendations.

Steven has been a visiting researcher at the Australian National University, London School of Economics, VU University Amsterdam and the University of Groningen and presented his research at international conferences in Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States on international trade, macroeconomics, regional science and economic geography.

Prior to joining BCEC, Steven has been in a number of roles advising governments and stakeholders in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia on the economics of electricity, telecommunications, environment, transport and resources.
