Professor of International Law, Western Sydney University

Steven Freeland is Professor of International Law at Western Sydney University.

In addition, he is a Visiting Professor at the University of Vienna; Permanent Visiting Professor of the iCourts Centre of Excellence for International Courts, University of Copenhagen; Visiting Professor at Universite Toulouse1-Capitole; Adjunct Professor, University of Adelaide; Associate Member, Centre for Research in Air and Space Law, McGill University, Canada; a member of Faculty of the London Institute of Space Policy and Law; a Director of the International Institute of Space Law; and a member of the Space Law Committee of the International Law Association.

He is also a member of the Editorial Board / International Advisory Board of many international journals and book series, and Co-Editor of the world's leading annotated book series on the jurisprudence of all of the international criminal courts / tribunals.

He has previously been appointed by the Australian Department of Industry, Innovation and Science to conduct a review into Australia's space laws and regulations, and is currently assisting the New Zealand Ministry, Innovation and Employment with regard to various space-related matters. He also participates as part of the official Australian delegation to various United Nations Meetings related to space activities.

He has previously been a Visiting Professional at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and an advisor to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in matters relating to the ICC.
