Steven H. Appelbaum, Ph.D.
Professor of Management, John Molson School of Business (Graduate School), Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec (1979 to present). Designed and executed MBA (Executive) and M.Sc. programmes and courses focusing upon: Organization Behaviour, Organization Development and Human Resource Management. Elected as a member of the Board of Governors of Concordia University (1998-2004).

Formerly served as Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Administration, Concordia University (1983-1990). Pioneered the Awards of Distinction that was launched in 1988. Winner of the Outstanding Teaching Award presented at the Faculty of Commerce and Administration Convocation in 1994 and again 1999. Awarded Concordia University Research Chair in Management (Organizational Development) From June 2002 to 2008. Awarded The Leaders in Management Education Award sponsored by The Financial Post and Bell Canada (1998). The criteria candidates are required to meet include: Teaching Excellence, Pedagogical and Professional Leadership, Publishing and Research, and an active contribution to Management Practice. Awarded Life Membership as Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Society for Human Resource Management. Board of Trustees of PBS-Mountain Lake, New York (2020). Awarded membership in Provost Circle of Distinction (2012) by Concordia University.

Research and Publications:
Dr. Appelbaum has authored or co-authored eleven successful textbooks, including Managing Organizational Behaviour: A Canadian Perspective,(Dryden), Canadian Business: A Contemporary Perspective,(Harcourt Brace), Principles of Modern Management: A Canadian Perspective (four editions),(Prentice-Hall), Contemporary Canadian Business (three editions),(Harcourt Brace) which received recognition as the Top Canadian Book published by Harcourt Brace & Company, Canada in 1990. Also authored Stress Management for Health Care Professionals followed up by Time Management for Health Care Professionals, both published by Aspen Medical Publishing, Rockville, Maryland. Author of over 150 research and applied articles appearing in major publications and journals in Europe, the United States, Canada, and the Far East. Several have been selected for citations (awards) of excellence. Recent topics investigated include: Team Building, Learning Organizations, Organizational Change, Empowerment, Downsizing Successes, Downsizing Failures, Survivor Syndrome, Ethics and Governance and Stages of Mergers.

His publications have appeared in such journals as Group Process, Management Decision, Health Care Management Review, Journal of Management Development, University of Michigan Business Review, Hong Kong Journal of Business Management, Career Development International, Journal of Management Development, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Leadership and Organizational Development Journal, Academy of Management Proceedings, Ivey Business Journal, Corporate Governance, Social Responsibility Journal, Organizational Dynamics, Industrial and Commercial Training Journal and Human Resource Planning. He is an editorial board member of The Journal of Management Development, Management Research News, Journal of The American Academy of Business and the Dutch Journal of Finance and Management.
