Steven Harkins is a lecturer in Communications, Media and Culture at the University of Stirling. His research interests centre around journalism studies, the sociology of the mass media and political communication.

His most recent research examined the way that poverty has been framed by the British press. His current research centres around news framing of poverty during the 'golden age' of capitalism. He is also developing research into international news coverage of climate change.
