Steven Logan

Steven Logan is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Communication, Culture, Information and Technology at the University of Toronto, where he also teaches courses on media studies and urban technologies. He researches automobility, urban infrastructure, and the intertwined histories of technology and sub/urbanization, along with the architectural histories of socialist and capitalist modernism, particularly as they play out on the periphery of cities. He recently published the monograph In the Suburbs of History: Modernist Visions of the Urban Periphery, and his research on the future of automobility appeared in the journal Urban Geography. His current project explores the historical and technological context of working from home, drawing mainly on the work of futurist Alvin Toffler in the 1970s. He is a former co-editor of the new defunct Carbusters magazine.
