Susan Nance is Professor in the Department of History and affiliated faculty with the Campbell Centre for the Study of Animal Welfare at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. She is the editor of The Historical Animal and author of various works on animals and the entertainment and tourism trades, including Entertaining Elephants: Animal Agency and Business in the American Circus. Susan earned her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Her latest book, Rodeo: An Animal History, is forthcoming with University of Oklahoma Press in 2020.
