My research interests include comparative history of education and Scandinavian policy of education. I cover areas such as education systems in Europe, state-private partnerships in education, particularly Free Schools in Sweden and England, organised interests, including teacher unions in education policy-making. All of these different research projects form part of a single endeavour to use theories and methods drawn from comparative politics and comparative historical sociology so as to understand the distinctive policies, structures and effects of education systems.
