Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Wesleyan University

I use marine sediment cores to study past oceans and climate and am widely published in paleoceanography. I have sailed on nine scientific ocean drilling expeditions. The most recent was Expedition 382, in spring 2019 to Iceberg Alley.

Diversity issues in geoscience are my passion. I co-edited a book on gender equality, helped to start "On To the Future" at the Geological Society of America (GSA) and just completed 5-years as Wesleyan's McNair Program Director
Currently I serve on the GSA governing council, an elected, 4-year position.
