Tamara Espiñeira-Guirao

Political scientist, currently teaching at Sciences Po Rennes, her thesis (2021) analyzes the strategic link between the urban project and European instruments, a lever for public action that represents a "new urban diplomacy". Her research also focuses on paradiplomacy, on the development of macro-regions in the EU, on the political organization of indigenous peoples and on illiberalism in the Americas. More broadly, her fields of study are political sociology, comparative politics and international relations. She is an associated researcher at the Galician Institute of International Analysis and Documentation (IGADI). A graduate of the Institute of European Studies in Brussels, she also worked for almost twenty years in the international relations of local authorities, in particular leading a European network of cities between 2009 and 2021.
