Professor of Global Health Systems, Epidemiology and Evaluation, UCL

Tim Colbourn is an epidemiologist with expertise in economic evaluation, and is Professor of Global Health Systems, Epidemiology and Evaluation at UCL Institute for Global health. Tim has expertise in impact, process and economic evaluation methods, and health systems. During the pre-vaccine emergency phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, with many colleagues, Tim looked into ways to best reduce Covid burden, for example via testing, tracing and isolation, and masks instead of lockdowns. In recent months, Tim has sought to understand what is now possible with Covid policy, and which interventions should be prioritised, given their costs and potential benefits, whilst also considering Covid in the context of larger though less prominent health problems.

Tim’s current research includes work evaluating interventions for childhood pneumonia in Nigeria, evaluation of a multi-country quality improvement network with a focus on Bangladesh, Malawi, Uganda and Ethiopia, and a health systems modelling project for Malawi. Further details of Tim's work, including publications, can be found on Tim's UCL page here: https://iris.ucl.ac.uk/iris/browse/profile?upi=TECOL04
