Timothy P. Johnson

Professor Emeritus of Public Administration, University of Illinois Chicago

Tim was with the Survey Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) from 1989 to 2019, and served as its Director from 1996-2019. He is currently Professor Emeritus of Public Administration at UIC, and Senior Felllow at NORC at the University of Chicago. In addition, he currently serves as President of the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR; 2021-2022). His personal research has focused on measurement and nonresponse errors in surveys, as well as the social epidemiology of health behaviors in disadvantaged population. Funding for his research has come from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation. He earned a Ph.D. in Sociology in 1988 from the University of Kentucky and coordinated research at the Survey Research Center there for six years.
