Group Leader, Personalised Health, CSIRO

Trevor Lockett leads the Personalised Health Group within CSIRO’s Health & Biosecurity Business Unit. A molecular biologist by training, he received his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Adelaide and postdoctoral experience at the Rockefeller University, NY, in developmental molecular genetics. With past experience developing a gene therapeutic for the treatment of prostate cancer, a key focus of his research over the past 10 years has been the development of diagnostic, diet and lifestyle approaches to the prevention of diseases of the gut. The CSIRO group has a well-established track record in the area of dietary fibre and gut health. In particular their work seeks to unravel how dietary fibre and the microbes of the gut conspire to influence gut barrier function, gut immune function and human health more broadly
