Valentina Yulita Dyah Utari is a PhD candidate from Asian Studies Discipline, School of Social Sciences, University of Western Australia.

Utari’s PhD project investigates the everyday lives of female Indonesian PhD students who move to Australia with their husbands and children. Her PhD project is exploratory, aiming to portray an under-researched phenomenon in a comprehensive yet nuanced way.

Utari's research interests cover unpaid carework, gender, migration, children’s issues, women’s issues, education, social protection, and human rights.

She has more than ten years working in the development sector in Indonesia and more than five years working in research. She is also a researcher at The SMERU Research Institute of Jakarta, Indonesia.
