Vicente Ortún Rubio

Professor Emeritus and former dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business of Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). Affiliated professor of the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics. Founder, former director and principal investigator of the Center for Research in Economics and Health (CRES-UPF), award for knowledge transfer. Eeditor of Clinical and Health Management, member of the Governing Council of the both UPF and Consorci Parc de Salut Mar, UPF's delegate in the three TecnoCampus Schools (Business, Engineering and Health). Author of more than 450 publications, director of 11 doctoral theses, and responsible for a collection of books on Health Economics and Health Management, with 31 published titles, edited by Elsevier and Springer.
ESADE MBA (1969), Research Assistant and MSc Purdue University (1970), PhD studies in Public Health and Fulbright Scholar at Johns Hopkins (1984-6), PhD in Economics from the UB (1990), and Visiting Scholar in the department of Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT (2009).
Experience as a consultant at Arthur Andersen & Co (1970-72) and manager at the Hospital de la Santa Cruz y San Pablo (Deputy Manager, Economic-Administrative Director, member of its Governing Board), and at Geseco-Banco Urquijo (financial analyst and wealth manager). Head of Technical Office at the Generalitat de Catalunya (1978-84), Deputy Director at the Ministry of Health, and self-employed professional consulting for international organizations in different countries until his incorporation, in 1990, as a founding professor of Economics and Business at the University Pompeu Fabra.
Former President of the Spanish Society of Public Health and Health Administration (SESPAS), former President of the Association of Health Economics (AES), former Secretary of the European Public Health Association and member of merit of CAMFiC.
