Violeta Hevia Martín

Violeta is ecologist interested in the study of social-ecological systems under the umbrella of Sustainability Sciences. During her research trajectory she has been building a solid background based on multidisciplinary network of collaborations about the functioning and management of agroecosystems in a context of global change.
After completing her PhD in Ecology at the Social-ecological Systems Laboratory (2017), she directed her efforts in creating a research career oriented to deepen the knowledge about: i) exploring the complex interlinks among land use changes, biodiversity and ecosystem services, ii) understanding the effects of livestock management regimes on sustainability, iii) analyzing the role of green infrastructures in Mediterranean landscapes, iv) and contributing to the study of the status and role of wild bees communities in the provision of pollination services in a context of global decline. Further, she has emphasized on expanding her network of national and international collaborations, obtaining external funding to develop innovative research projects acting as co-PI, contributing to knowledge transference beyond the academia, as well as training new generations of future researchers and professionals in ecology.
After 6 years as postdoctoral research, she is currently a professor in the Department of Ecology (UAM), where she have assumed teaching assignments in the degrees of Environmental Sciences and Biology.
