Senior Lecturer in Leadership and Organisational Culture, Keele University

I hold a PhD in Ecclesiology, Leadership and Organisational Culture from Kings College London, which was supervised at Oxford University by the Dean of Christ Church, as well an MBA, DMS, PGCert in Applied Theology and a BEng(Hons) Electronic Engineering.

I am passionate about helping individuals, teams and organisations realise their potential. I have experience at Director-level in businesses, charities and church where I have contributed in the areas of leadership, culture, strategy, business development, change, systems, HR and operations.

My primary focus is on developing executive leaders, helping them to shape a positive organisational culture and healthy team dynamics that are focused on business results as the bedrock for long-term success. My infectious enthusiasm for business transformation, talent for facilitating strategic review processes, ability to innovate and my particular expertise in leadership and organisation dynamics means that I quickly become the trusted confidante-encourager of the company’s most senior leaders.

Before joining Keele University, I was Dean of Staffordshire at the University of Wolverhampton providing the strategic and academic lead for the University's activities in the County of Staffordshire, working with CEO's and Directors of the Council, LEP, Chamber, Colleges, Businesses and other Stakeholders. Previously I have been a Faculty Associate Dean including head of various Schools (Business, Media and Performing Arts). I was a member of the Management Research Centre (MRC), and co-founded the University's research cluster in coaching and mentoring and helped introduce the University’s first institution-wide staff mentoring scheme. I joined the HE sector having spent two years on a transformation project in a secondary school and sixth form college as their Business Director.

Prior to that I was Senior Consultant within a sector-leading HR services organisation Jonathan Lee Ltd. I spent nine years working at executive and board level with international and UK manufacturing and engineering companies such as Honda, Toyota, JCB, Carillion, Lotus, Bombardier, Smiths Aerospace, GEC / Alsthom and many SMEs.

At the start of my career, after graduating with an electronics engineering honours degree, I joined Rolls-Royce Industrial Power Group where as one of the participants of the prestigious fast-track programme for talented leaders I completed a DMS and MBA and this is where I gained my passion for executive education and development. At Rolls-Royce I was responsible for transforming all of the project management and business systems in one of their design and contracting divisions.

I am an ordained Minister and a musician/composer.
