Vice Dean (Research), Faculty of Engineering, Stellenbosch University

Prof Willie Perold was born on 29 October 1953 in Moorreesburg. He matriculated in 1971 and obtained his BEng(Electronic Engineering)-degree in 1976, his MEng in 1977 and his PhD in 1986, all from Stellenbosch University.

He was appointed as Senior Lecturer at Stellenbosch University in 1982, was promoted to Professor in April 1991 and to Distinguished Professor in July 2014. He served as Departmental Chair of the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering from 1999 to 2008 and is currently the Vice Dean: Research in the Faculty of Engineering.

He has supervised/co-supervised 7 PhD and 37 Master's students. He has also authored/co-authored more than 50 journal publications, more than 80 international and national conference contributions and 2 patents. He holds a B-rating from the National Research Foundation, is a senior member of the IEEE and a fellow of the SA Academy of Engineers.
