Wolf-Dieter Schubert

After completing an MSc in Chemistry at the University of Cape Town, Wolf-Dieter moved to Berlin, Germany and completed his PhD in Structural Biology in 1997. He then undertook postdoctoral training in Tsukuba, Japan and Braunschweig, Germany before being appointed as a research group leader at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Braunschweig, Germany in 2005. In 2009 he returned to South Africa to the University of the Western Cape and in 2013 to the University of Pretoria, continuing on his research on protein interactions at the interface between humans and pathogenic bacteria.
