Short-term placements key to dental service shortage

Three-to-four-week university placements have been identified as one of the keys to solving the dental service shortage in rural Western Australia.

The University of Western Australia study found that sending final year university students to rural areas is a sustainable and cost-effective way of addressing the shortage.

Despite the demand for rural dental care, most dentists stay in the city, however this is less likely of graduates with a rural background.
