Ramon C. Soriguer

ACADEMIC ACTIVITY:
Senior Scientist (ad honorem) of the CSIC at the Biological Station of Doñana since 1986.
Scientific manager and responsible of the ICTS-RBD in the Doñana Biological Reserve during 10 years (2006-2012, 2015-2019). Designer and superadvisor of the 9 Technological projects obtained from the 2006-2012.
Member of CIBER in epidemiology since 2015 (Center for Biological Research in Red of the Carlos III Health Institute). Since 2017-2023 he is coordinator of the ENETWILD project funded by ESFA Agency o the risk of the wild board as reservoir of African Swine Fever. Together with Dr. Figuerola they are drafters of the current West Nile National Surveillance Plan in Wild Fauna from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Health; and from the Commission of West Nile of the Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía. He also participates as expert for the West Nile Control disease Programme for the European Control Diseases Center.
The preferred initial research topics have been those related to the biology, ecology, parasitology and genetics of mammals. It has also carried on numerous studies on small rodents, conservation biology and population dynamics of threatened species. On parasite and virus there are a continuous the numerous studies and publications on the epidemiology and genetics of sarcoptic mange and flavivirus.

RÉSUMÉ OF ACHIEVEMENTS (WoS)
He is the author of 248 scientific publications with 4500 citations, and H-index of 36. Besides, he published 7 books (5 of them on game species, 3 for wich he obtained the prize APROCA), 26 book chapters (16 national and 10 international), and around 50 articles in national journals. He is editor and evaluator of numerous national and International scientific journals. He has participated in more than 200 national and international congresses.
He has participated in more than 100 scientific projects (national and international), from which 20 are non-competitive applied projects.

STUDENTS:
He has directed 16 doctoral theses. The last one (2021) on the risk of diseases in the interface domestics/wildlife mammals. He also has acted since 2011 as a teacher in the master of Gestión de la Fauna Silvestre (Fac. Veterinaria. Univ. de Murcia).

SCIENTIFIC COMMITTES
Member of ICMO, International Committee on the Management of large herbivores in the Oostvaardersplassen. The Hague / Wageningen, Netherlands at the request of Parliament from Holland. Active Member of of 4 Natural Parks Boards and representative of the EBD-CSIC in the Doñana Natural Park Participation Council.
