Food ads show Caucasians eat healthier

White people are represented more often and more positively in television commercials than black or Asian people, according to a new study.

Researchers in Canada analysed the appearance and context of over 1000 white, black and Asian characters in over 200 primetime television food advertisements. They found that white people featured in 87% of the sampled ads.

Whites were also almost exclusively associated with healthier, whole, unprocessed foods, while black and Asian people were over-represented in fast food ads.
