Loughborough University

Loughborough University is amongst the top universities in the UK. Based in Leicestershire, in the East Midlands, the University is consistently ranked in the top ten of all major UK league tables and is one of the top performing institutions in the Midlands. The University is also a Five Star Plus institution in the International QS Stars Scheme - one of only 13 institutions worldwide.

The academic experience at Loughborough, delivers innovative programmes that span a broad range of disciplines, including sport and exercise science, engineering, business, and the arts. With over 18,500 students, the University offers a life-changing experience and was named best student experience in the country eight times in the Times Higher Education Student Experience survey, between 2006 and 2018.

They also placed top in the UK for employer-student connections in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2021, and within the top 25 globally.

Research at Loughborough prides itself on excellence and relevance. It strives to shape public policy, improve lives, and enables business and industry to compete more effectively. The University has been awarded seven Queen’s Anniversary Prizes and in the most recent REF assessment (2014), was named a top 10 institution in England for research intensity.

Enterprise activity also enhances the student experience and drives regional prosperity through Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park (LUSEP) and economic development partnerships.

The University’s global reputation for sport is built upon a long and successful sporting heritage. In 2021, Loughborough students, alumni and associated athletes won 35 medals at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, in Tokyo. The institution was also named ‘University of the Year for Sport’ in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022, for the third time, and has been named ‘Best university in the world for sports-related subjects’ for five consecutive years in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021.

The University’s 440-acre campus in the East Midlands is one of its most glorious assets. The site, which has held Green Flag status since 2018, offers great facilities for students, staff and visitors. In 2015, the University opened its second campus, Loughborough University London, on the former Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park site, offering postgraduate and executive-level education, as well as research and enterprise opportunities.
